WASHINGTON, DC-Driving While Intoxicated has long been looked at as being a predominately male infraction in the USA, but over the last ten years, statistics have proven, that this may no longer be the case, in that female DWI arrests have increased a significant 36%. (FBI,Crime in USA-2010).
In hosting its annual holiday education event on Capitol Hill, with the Congessional Stop DUI special interest group attending, THE CENTURY COUNCIL, in its effort to learn more about the significance of the increase in female DWI arrests, released its commisioned report, which was put together by the Traffic Injury Research Foundation, State of Knowledge: Female Drunk Drivers. The report delivered an overall picture, which described characteristics, involvement in DWI, an the availability of effective strategies for prevention.
Lead researcher Robyn Robertson for the Traffic Injury Research Fondation, said, "Gathering Available data is CRUCIAL to establishing a framewok for future solutions to this growing problem," and ridesober.webstarts.com agrees.
Ralph Blackman, President and CEO of The Century Council, said "Along with the Congressional Stop DUI Caucus, we want to keep those numbers on the decline. We trust the newly released report on female drunk drivers will encourage traffic safety proffesionals to take an effective approach when addressing female drunk drivers".
Also during the event a panel discussion was entertained, and hosted by Jayne O'Donnell, USA Today Consumer Reporter and Confident Consumer columnist.
